A modern MAN Lions City 10E electric bus, which concessionaire Arriva is testing for the client Koper Municipality for the new concession period, is currently running in Koper city traffic on a trial basis.
On Thursday, October 19, 2023, Arriva started to test the MAN Lions City 10E electric bus in city passenger traffic in Koper. The electric bus, which accommodates 67 passengers (25 seats and 42 stands), will run on lines 1, 2 and 2a of the city’s passenger transport until Monday (October 23, 2023).
Arriva will conduct intensive tests for the concessionaire for the new concession period with the 10.5-meter MAN Lions City 10E electric bus, which has built-in batteries with a total capacity of 400 kWh and a range of up to 350 km. The findings will then be able to be adapted to other cities in which urban passenger transport is carried out.
Bo Karlsson, director of Arriva, said on the test run of the electric bus in the city’s passenger traffic in Koper: “At Arriva, we are committed to sustainable mobility, and I can proudly say that we started our joint green journey with the City of Koper back in 2016. That’s when the first electric bus started to drive on an urban transport line in Koper. Today, the fleet of electric vehicles that we operate in Koper includes 6 medium-sized buses and 4 electric vehicles for on-call transport.
We look forward to the results of testing the new bus, which will help improve the efficiency and sustainability of the Koper fleet. This testing is crucial, as it allows us to adapt the vehicles to the specific needs of the city of Koper and optimize operation in accordance with the highest standards of sustainable mobility. Together, we are building a better future for mobility in Koper.”
