Pensioners, holders of the European Disability Card, war veterans, and persons over 65 years of age can use interurban passenger transport across Slovenia and urban transport services in Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper, Kranj, and Novo mesto free of charge.

As of 1 July 2020, free Slovenia tickets were introduced for interurban public passenger transport, available to:

  • Pensioners,
  • Holders of the European Disability Card,
  • War veterans, and
  • Persons over 65 years of age.

Free tickets are available to members of these groups who:

  • Are not employed,
  • Do not carry out registered self-employment activities,
  • Are not managing directors of a company, or
  • Are not directors of private institutions.

The tickets allow users to travel by bus and train in interurban passenger transport across Slovenia, as well as by bus in urban transport systems in Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper, Kranj, and Novo mesto.

Obtaining a free ticket

  1. Pensioners can obtain a free ticket by presenting an identity document at stationary IJPP points of sale.
  2. Other eligible beneficiaries must complete the prescribed application form for the issuance of a subsidized ticket.
  3. In addition to the completed application form, beneficiaries must present at the point of sale:
    • An identity document,
    • A war veteran ID card, or
    • A European Disability Card.
  4. Eligible applicants submit their application at an IJPP point of sale.
